Review: The Storm that is Sterling by Lisa Renee Jones with a Contest

Welcome back to Romance Book Craze for day 3 of Lisa's tour to promote her upcoming release THE DANGER THAT IS DAMIAN. On day one of the tour I talked about the first book in the series THE LEGEND OF MICHAEL, so today I am going to talk about the second in the series, THE STORM THAT IS STERLING. Continue below for my review and the contest details.

He may be invincible to everyone else. . .

Sterling Jeter has remarkable powers and has shown himself to be just about indestructible. But beautiful, brilliant Rebecca Burns knows that even a Super Soldier needs comfort, and so much more ...

But she can see that deep down, he's just a man ...
Sterling and Rebecca's teenage romance was interrupted, but years later the heat between them flares back to life. Even though it endangers everything they're fighting for, it's impossible to resist picking up right where they left off . . .

A unique thrilling ride through the world of super soldiers and the women that bring them to their knees.

Sterling is a soldier who has been injected with alien DNA to make him faster, stronger, and more resilient. He is now responsible for saving Rebecca Burns from the ruthless Adam Rain. While he is protecting her, they finally give it to the smoldering chemistry that they have been fighting. Will their love for one another be enough to save Rebecca when she lands in the enemies hands? You will just have to read and find out.

This was a fantastic read! Sterling is amazing and completely alpha. I fell in love with him during the prologue and liked him the whole way through. He is strong and sexy yet sweet and caring and loyal to the bone. Rebecca is the perfect women for him. She is so very brave and even though her situation would make a normal person fall apart, she doesn't, she stands her ground and continues fighting. The chemistry between the two of them sets the pages on fire. You can practically feel it while reading. This story starts off fast and doesn't let up. It sucks you in at the beginning and makes it impossible to put down. Ms Jones has done a fantastic job creating a unique and thrilling world that you can't help but enjoy. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for action, adventure, humor, sizzle, and emotion. This book had be laughing, crying and fanning myself and that is what makes it a must read.

Thank you Lisa for another fantastic story!!!

Marissa's Review: Cera's Place by Elizabeth McKenna

I would like to introduce you to a new reviewer here at Romance Book Craze. Her name is Marissa and I am thrilled to welcome her to our team. Here is a little bit about Marissa...

Hi everyone.
My name is Marissa. I live in the Netherlands with my partner, two kids and a hooligan cat. My son is almost 9 years old and my daughter is 5. Dutch is my native tongue; English is a second language for me. I am an avid romance reader. When I am not busy with work, household stuff, friends or my family, I read romance novels and review them for my own blog and now for Romance Book Craze. I am a paralegal, I draw up legal papers for my boss who is ingenious but forgetful and I try to keep him out of trouble. I am very organized at work but chaotic at home and I certainly have my Bridget Jones moments. I love to travel and enjoy a good glass of wine, I hate coffee and I am addicted to chocolate and gorgeous romance covers. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Marissa

Here is our first review by her...

Cera's Place by Elizabeth McKenna

Blurb: Life hasn’t been exactly kind to San Francisco saloon owner Cera Cassidy, but she has built a successful business and a family of friends. She carries the reputation of a tough woman with a big heart, along with a derringer in her skirt pocket. One summer night, she discovers that the neighborhood thug is kidnapping Chinese girls to sell to the local brothels. Outraged, Cera vows to bring him to justice, but he’s not going to let anyone interfere with his livelihood.

Jake Tanner, a scarred ex-soldier haunted by his Civil War experiences, is on a mission to fulfill a friend’s dying wish. The trail has brought him to Cera’s door. Captivated by her Irish beauty, he is more than willing to join in her fight – if only she would let him.

Cera’s Place is up and running from the getgo and right away it was obvious that this was not the typical historical romance with a knight in shiny armor and a damsel in distress in need of rescue. For a historical romance it has unusual strong female characters and a dominant suspense part. I was eager to discover where this story would lead me, instantly I liked Cera and I never was good at resisting scarred, handsome characters like Jake, yet because of the leading suspense part I wondered how much space was left for the development of the romance between Cera and Jake as the story is only 186 pages long.

As a successful saloon owner Cera stands her ground in a world dominated by men, she is fierce, bold, caring, loyal to her friends and has a strong sense of justice. She lives her life on her own terms, when she finds out that the town’s villain is kidnapping Chinese girls to sell to local brothels she vows to bring him to justice, but her sense of justice puts her and her friends in serious danger. In the midst of all these troubles Jake Tanner walks into her saloon and immediately she is drawn to him like a moth to a flame.

Jake stole my heart the moment I met him. Though the war is over Jake is still a soldier through and through and he is on a mission to fulfill a promise he made to a friend and fellow soldier who died on the battlefield. His mission brings him to Cera’s Place and she stirs up feelings he thought were long dead. He is compassionate, loyal, protective and persistent in everything he does. I loved the combination of skills, persistence, vulnerability and emotions in Jake. He is very much the tormented hero, still dealing with the pain of his past, trying to pick up his life again. It is hard not to like him!

Both Cera and Jake are strong-willed, fiercely independent, and no strangers to loss and grief. Hurt by the man she once loved Cera guards her heart and keeps all men at bay. She tries to do the same with Jake but he is too persistent and isn’t going anywhere. He slowly gains her trust and bit by bit she falls in love with him but she is scared to give her heart to another man. Jake has lost his wife and child, he is scarred by the war physically and mentally and that frightens him but Cera captivates him, he wants her but is afraid he is not good enough for her. Jake and Cera are appealing characters you can easily relate to and their romantic struggle and scalding attraction tugged at my heartstrings, I so wanted to see them both happy.

Elizabeth McKenna’s writing immersed me deeper and deeper into the story and she delivers a beautiful, intriguing tale. Cera’s employees are all strong women, all very different but scarred by their pasts yet they are all determined to create a better life for themselves. As secondary characters they entertain, add humor and give this story more layers and a certain depth without stealing the spotlight from Jake and Cera. Still Jake stands his ground between all these women as a true hero! The only problem I have with Cera’s Place is that the suspense part dominated the story and although it is well developed and has a good pace I felt the romance part was snowed under. For me the romance moved too fast at times, I felt that I missed certain scenes/parts of Jake and Cera’s romance. As a romance reader I would have loved to see that part more deepened and more equal to the suspense plotline.

But I loved Jake and Cera’s emotional journey for justice and love, they touched my heart and I was rooting for them. Elizabeth McKenna delivered a powerful and captivating read with Cera’s Place. Supported by a striking and witty cast of characters Cera’s Place is entertaining, it is a thrilling read that kept me riveted to my chair from start till finish!

THE LEGEND OF MICHAEL by Lisa Renee Jones Review and Contests!!!

Hello and welcome to THE DANGER THAT IS DAMIAN blog tour! I am thrilled to be able to be a part of this because it is such a great series that I want to share my love of it with the world. Today I am going to start off the tour with a little background on the series.

Area 51 has proven to be more than a place from which alien rumors originate. It is there that the United States government  created Super Soldiers under the top secret “Project Zodius,” soldiers they called GTECH enhanced. Alien DNA purported to be immunizations was injected into elite soldiers, and a new race was created—soldiers with unique powers. Human to the normal eye, but not quite so human anymore.
All Super Soldiers are dangerous but some are stronger and more powerful than others. All are fighters with incredible strength and speed along with unique mental powers. Rapid metabolism delivers them an amazing ability to heal from injuries, and a simple bullet is no longer deadly against muscles like steel. They are deadly fighting machines who can travel with the wind.
Along with this new breed of soldier had come a thirst for power. A thirst that Adam Rain intends to sate. This soldier had developed a vision for a “perfect race.”  He became the new Hitler, calling his followers, those enhanced soldiers, the “Zodius.” The first step in Adam’s plan to rule humanity had been to take over Area 51. The main obstacle to his plan had been breeding, and he had a team of scientists working to solve the problems: a GTECH  can only bear children if mated; and a Zodius only has one true mate (Lifebond). This meant he had to find compatible women for his men, an obstacle he became determined to overcome. This had left him searching for genetic and alternative birthing methods. He had used humans like tokens, promised them power or conversion, or threatened their families. Once he has perfected a way to grow his race, there will be no stopping him.
A group of these Super Soldiers led by his brother, Caleb, has defied Adam’s rule and formed “The Renegades.” These Renegades operate from a hidden facility deep in the Nevada mountains below the surface of the earth, designed to hide the Renegades from Zodius radar. These Renegades will form an uneasy alliance to the United States government, protecting humanity.
But Adam aspires to rule the world, and he believes he can do so with Caleb by his side. Adam is taking every step possible to ensure that Caleb joins him, and that the Renegades become part of the Zodius.
Caleb and his Renegades will do anything to see Adam fall and humanity saved from his wrath.

Ok so now that you have read that, I am going to continue with my review and feature of the first book in the series. This book is the beginning of a fantastic adventure with amazing heroes and strong heroines. It is exciting, sexy, and incredibly interesting. I am not going to say much but instead let my review speak for itself. So without further ado, let me present to you....

THE LEGEND OF MICHAEL

HE IS A LETHAL WEAPON…
One of an army of human soldiers injected with alien DNA, Michael is a legend within this new race, split between good and evil. Untamable, he has walked on the dark side and returned to the light. Feared and misunderstood, he leaves everything behind, including the one woman destined to be his mate.
HE IS HER ENEMY…AND HER DESTINY…
Fate leads Michael back to Cassandra Powell, for she holds the key to defending his comrades. With their loyalties divided between duty and the people they love, only together can Cassandra and Michael overcome insurmountable odds to save humanity from the wrath of a madman.
But no ordinary woman can control a creature such as Michael, and only one thing is clear—the world will never be the same…

Wow! This book is amazing.

It comes in two parts. Part one is like a extended prologue where you learn some back story about the world Ms Jones takes you into. You also learn about Cassandra and Michael and the other characters. Part two is where things get really interesting.

Michael is a soldier that was injected with alien DNA and is now part of a group of soldiers called GTECHs. Cassandra is the daughter of the man who changed these men. When they first meet the chemistry burns up the pages. They quickly become an item and things are going well until one day all hell breaks loose and they are both forced to make decisions that may change their lives forever.

I loved this story. It was well written and the plot made sense. There were a lot of complicated scenes and everything still seemed to flow. There are actually three groups of people that you are reading about and I loved the fact that you get an insight into all of them. You don't just get to hear from Cassandra and Michael, you get to hear from a lot of different characters good and bad. It really helps you understand what is going on throughout the whole story. All the characters are strong and interesting. The chemistry is explosive, the action keeps you interested, and the suspense keeps you on the edge of your seat. This book left me wanting more! A must read!!!

Guest Post with Toni Sands

Today I have Toni Sands with us as Romance Book Craze. Toni, take it away.

My novel, Orchid Pink, features a bisexual heroine. This isn’t an apology for choosing to write about someone who can’t decide whether she prefers boys to girls. It’s an apology for not providing my readers with a luscious hero. I enjoy creating gorgeous fictional males so please let me explain why Orchid Pink’s main male character needs to be a six pack short of a Daniel Craig or a George Clooney.

Unfortunately for her, Adelaide Beauchamp is cajoled into marrying a well-heeled widower. Her father’s not short of money either but he’s worrying about his only daughter being left on the shelf. Hence the pressure on her to conform and marry someone he considers a sensible, safe, option. (I can hear your groans already.)
Adelaide, in her turn, recognises her Sapphic tendencies but also wonders if, had she been pushed into the whole debutante thing, she’d have married a young gentleman and never been tempted by lipstick lesbians. I doubt that expression was in usage around the year 1900 but stay with me, please. So, full of self-doubts and very conscious she’s pushing the boundaries by getting her naughty jollies ‘below stairs,’ she agrees to matrimony.

I’m including a short extract from Orchid Pink so you know the kind of stuff Adelaide’s suitor, Thomas, gets up to while wooing her. I love that word, don’t you?  For sure, this guy’s no Mr Darcy but he knows how to push a lady’s buttons.

I shook my head in confusion. I didn’t know whether to feel relief or disappointment when Thomas ceased fondling my breast; an action which, should he continue, could only heighten my uncertainty. So why hadn’t I wrenched away his hand in disgust? Why did the bulge nudging my stomach intrigue me so? Was I some sort of bizarre hybrid that I welcomed both the master and the maid?
He moved close again, stealthy as a cat, just enough to make me want him to venture lower. Our height difference was a few inches. The scent of something a gentleman might purchase in Old Bond Street drifted from him. Lulled, I closed my eyes, recognising a turning point. Then, with the rhythm of his breathing hastening like mine, he distanced himself, leaving me with what I realised was a twinge of regret.
I think I gave a little moan of pleasure because, on opening my eyes again, I saw the triumph in his; saw his awareness of my awakening. My needs were unmistakable. Intense and all too raw. I felt his fingers stroke my cheek. ‘I think we’ll do very well, wouldn’t you agree, Adelaide?’

Daisy, the maid Adelaide mentions, is a source of temptation to more than one of my characters and plays a big role in this sensuous historical romance. There’s also a cheeky young odd job man called Jimmy. He’s very tasty and Adelaide enjoys herself with him but only in a big sister, little brother way. Writing their outing by motorcar is just one scene where my heroine reveals her fun side but I’d love to know what you think of her. Orchid Pink has dark repressed passions simmering away but it contains plenty of light-hearted moments. I could not write without some humour filtering in. Isn’t that how we get through life?
How did I happen to write about Adelaide? Somehow, the words mistress and maid resonated and I decided to write a short story that began life as Adelaide’s Journal. A friend read it and felt there was much, much more to tell. That’s why the book is written in the first person and the reader gets right inside the heroine’s head as well as her bed.

Researching this novel really hooked me into that era and I’m told my book gives a good flavour of the time when women were on the brink of a life style much more fulfilling than the role of ‘domestic angel.’ Who knows? One day maybe Adelaide’s adventures will continue …

*****
Demure Adelaide hides a passionate nature beneath her elegant gowns. After hiring a delicious new maid, Daisy, she can’t wait to initiate her into the delights of the orchid house. Though resenting paternal pressure to marry businessman Thomas, Adelaide finds excitement in his touch and his erotic whisperings. Yet, when he reveals his sinister side, she seeks solace elsewhere. Christmas brings snowflakes, also a vivid reminder of a heart-wrenching past. Intrigue and obsession rock this Victorian household as Adelaide’s poignant search for love leads her into storms. Will she ever bask in the sunshine?

Orchid Pink is available from Amazon UK, Amazon US and All Romance eBooks, as well as other good eBook retailers.

Leagh's Review: Deadly Series by Cynthia Eden

THE DEADLY SERIES by Cynthia Eden is probably the best Romantic Suspense series I have ever read. I am a long time follower of Cynthia Eden and her paranormals so when she released her first RS novel, I had to try it out. Oh my...I was not disappointed. If there is one person who knows how to write a scary villain, it is Cynthia. Read on for more information about the series and my reviews of them.

~*~   Book 1 ~*~

TWO BRILLIANT AGENTS
FBI Special Agent Monica Davenport has made a career out of profiling serial killers. But getting inside the twisted minds of the cruel and the sadistic has taken its toll: She’s walled herself off from the world. Yet Monica can’t ignore fellow agent Luke Dante, the only man who ever broke through her defenses.
ONE DREAM TEAM
Luke has the unique ability to put victims at ease…professionally, he and Monica made a perfect team. Now they’re reunited to catch a murderer who uses his victims’ deepest, darkest fears for sport – but their investigative skills aren’t enough. Luke and Monica will have to face the secrets from their past, the ones that terrify them the most, if they are to have a future together.
But can they catch a killer whose weapon is…DEADLY FEAR?

Ms Eden really shows she knows how to write a romantic suspense in this novel. The characters have real problems and the villian's reason for what they do makes sense. Monica and Luke have chemistry that burns up the pages while the story keeps you on the edge of your seat. I am always trying to figure out who the villian is and this one kept me guessing the whole way through. I honestly couldn't put this one down and have recommended it to everyone I know. This story is truly an amazing read that has passion, emotion, suspense, and action all packed into one book. When I finished it I couldn't wait to get my hands on Deadly Heat, #2 in the series. If you read this one I guarantee you will get the ride of a lifetime.

I will, without a doubt, serve this one with...

~*~ Book 2 ~*~

Six months after her lover died in an arsonist’s blaze, firefighter Lora Spade calls in the FBI’s elite Serial Services Division to track the elusive killer. When Special Agent Kenton Lake is lured into a violent inferno, Lora pulls him to safety and is stunned – not by the fire, but by her own searing attraction to Kent. For the first time in months, she longs for something other than vengeance.
He wants her . . .
Kenton’s interest in Lora should be purely professional. But one fleeting kiss and he can’t get her out of his mind. Her combination of strength and vulnerability makes him want to protect her, and that means solving this case – and fast. For even the passion igniting between them can’t hide a terrifying truth: Lora is the next target in a murderer’s sadistic, fiery game.
A vicious killer wants only . . .
DEADLY HEAT

After I read "Deadly Fear" I couldn't wait to read "Deadly Heat." So lets just say I was not disappointed. Ms Eden definitely knows what she is doing with romantic suspense. The book is about a special agent named Kenton and a firefighter named Lora. Kenton is called into Lora's town to investigate a series of deadly fires that Lora has been working. She expects that the fires are part of a serial killers game, a game that killed her lover 6 months ago. Lora is furious and wants revenge and she knows the agency Kenton works for can find the arsonist and give the victims justice. This book contains an amazing love story that is sweet and hot all at the same time, a suspenseful plot that keeps you guessing the whole way through, and twists and turns that you would never expect. I would definitely recommend this series to anyone interested in reading a very well written, amazing romantic suspense novel.

~*~ Book 3 ~*~

She wants to hide the past…
FBI Special Agent Samantha Kennedy is haunted by memories of the serial killer who abducted her. To keep the darkness at bay, she pretends to be a different, more confident woman. This Samantha doesn’t fear every unknown face. So she throws caution to the wind and shares a night of unbridled passion with a handsome stranger.
He needs to uncover the truth…
One night isn’t enough for successful entrepreneur Max Ridgeway. He wants more of the sexy, smart, mysterious woman who slipped away before dawn. When they meet again, their attraction is undeniable—until his stepbrother goes missing, and Max realizes that Samantha isn’t who she seems. But they must trust each other to trap a ring of blood-thirsty kidnappers before the nightmares that terrorize Sam become irrevocably real.
As a merciless criminal spins a web of . . .
DEADLY LIES

This third installment to Cynthia Eden's Deadly Series is just as amazing as the first two. You meet Samantha in the first book when she is rescued from a terrible situation that almost costed her her life. She is almost healed now and decides to try to live a little. In comes Max, a man she meets one night and experiences a night of passion with. But one night isn't enough for Max and when they meet up again, he is determined to not let her get away again. This book is full of emotional, passionate, and exciting twists and turns that keep you sucked in the whole way through. The chemistry between Max and Sam is explosive. Once again Ms Eden has managed to create a plot line that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the last pages. I would highly recommend starting at the beginning of this journey in DEADLY FEAR but don't think it is necessary for this to be an amazing read.

Leagh's Review: Hard and Fast by Erin McCarthy

An experiment in romance!

New to Charlotte, stock car racing country, graduate student Imogen Wilson meets Ty McCordle, a driver who inexplicably has her pulse racing.  After an encounter at the track with a woman whose main goal in life is to marry a driver, Imogen realizes she’s hit on the perfect thesis for her Sociology degree. If she follows The Rules on how to get a man, can she steer her way to into the hearts of the drivers and establish their dating, and mating, patterns?

That’s testing the limits of passion.

Although sexy and reckless Ty is the ideal test subject, she knows she can’t pursue him for the sake of science. Yet he’s the one who’s chasing after her, and Imogen realizes that she actually wants to be caught. A southern gentleman like Ty won’t fail to disappoint, will satisfy all her curiosity, and make all the risks worthwhile!

First look at that cover goodness. Oh my...I would let him drive me anytime *smirk*

This book is simply described as amazing! Ty and Immogen are complete opposites that are drawn to each other. Ty is known as a lady's man stock car driver who can have any women he wants and Immogen is a book worm who is currently working on her thesis and has been attracted to Ty since the first time she saw him. Ty on the other hand, really didn't look at Immogen right away but when he finally did he was bowled over by his attraction to her. Their initial meeting was at a party under very unusual circumstances and the whole situation was hilarious. Immogen was very open and honest and the dialect between the two of them caused definite laugh out loud moments. Their relationship was very real and genuine and seemed to flow very smoothly. I was sucked into this plot line right from the beginning. Definitely a great read!!!

I will happily serve this one up with...

The series as a whole gets...

You had better check out Erin's Website here and see about starting this amazing series about hot as hell racecar drivers and the women who make them winners!

Jeannietone's Review of The One That Got Away by Kathryn Gerbert

Our first review by our newest member Jeannietone!

Even though her groom is missing, Jennifer boards the plane to enjoy her honeymoon. She has no idea her high school sweetheart knows she’s been jilted and has come along to commiserate. It takes a while but soon Jared and Jennifer are back together. This time for a lifetime! A sweet romance with no explicit love scenes and novella in length at 17,747 words.

The One that Got away is a heartwarming and funny story where the saying “If you love someone let them go… If they come back it was meant to be” is especially meaningful. The plot was good with characters you know are supposed to be together, they complemented each other well even with heartache and insecurities.  Jennifer is a jilter bride who meets up with her high school sweetheart Jared on a plane destined for what would have been her honeymoon. Sometimes that first love is the one. Quick read which I truly liked and left me feeling like I got a good read. I would recommend this book.

Review: Wrangled and Tangled by Lorelei James

Janie Fitzhugh and Abe Lawson have long been divorced and living apart. Now she's back in town, a changed woman-making cattleman Abe want to wrangle an invitation to her bed...

To get his dream ranch, Renner Jackson has partnered with spoiled daddy's girl Tierney Pratt. She thinks she can handle this cowboy, but Renner won't make it easy. Little do they know they will be entangled in ways neither dreamed possible.

Simply amazing! The perfect balance of emotion, passion, and story to make this a story you don't want to miss.

Janie and Abe have been divorced for many years now. They married young and when the going got tough Janie took off and Abe let her go. Abe has always regretted his decision to do that and now that Janie is back in town he is determined to win her back and he isn't going to let his second chance go without a fight.

Renner Jackson has been forced to partner with Tierney Pratt in order to get his dream job. Lets just say things are rough between them in the beginning and they literally need a referee to be in the same room together. When all that emotion turns to passion, things really start to heat up.

This book is amazing and a definite must read. Ms James has managed to bring these two stories together in an action packed adventure filled with passion and heat. The plot lines are fantastic and they are well thought out. I thought this story flowed well and Lorelei did a fantastic job of switching between the couples to keep you up to date on what was going on. She also managed to give us an update on past characters and on future characters as well. Both these cowboys are sexy and sweet but extremely alpha and the ladies were a perfect match for them. I highly recommend this book to all who want to enjoy a story about sexy Wyoming cowboys.

If you have not started this series...get to it...I guarantee you will enjoy it!!!

Thanks Lorelei for another great book!!!
