The Last Detail by Melissa Schroeder

Trust isn’t easy when the ones you want most are out to get you.

Ten years after she ran away from Earth, Lou Campbell is one job—just one more collar—away from earning enough credits to go home. All she has to do is lure Sam Dawson within range of her handcuffs with the promise of fast, hard sex. Easy.

Once she gets him there, keeping her own hands off him isn’t so easy.

Sam’s committed his share of sins, but he’s not guilty of selling secrets. Before he can convince the sexiest bounty hunter he’s ever seen that he’s been betrayed, all hell breaks loose. And he’s on the run with a false accusation on his hands—and a bleeding woman in his arms.

Alone in her boss’s safe house, Lou and Dawson’s simmering attraction explodes into full-blown fireworks.

When Jared Flores walks in on his best hunter and ex-lover in bed together, the surprise is mutual. Worse, the need he has long felt for both of them overrides his better judgment. After the fists fly, the sparks catch fire into a budding three-way romance.

Then Sam disappears, leaving Jared and Lou in a race against time to not only retrieve their lover, but save his life.

Warning: Hot M/F sex, M/F/M sex, and holy moly some really hot MMF sex amongst lots of weapons and fire fights. Deceitful family members, nasty set ups, and an Alpha male whose lovers have naughty punishments in mind—when they catch him.

What i thought...

I think Melissa Schroeder did a fabulous job with this one. She has created a action packed adventure with great characters and an intriguing plot. Both heros are very alpha yet gentle, one is very stubborn but that is taken care of. Lou is one kick ass chick with a very emotional past. The chemistry is hot and the sex is hotter. I would recommend reading this one with a glass of ice water!

Lucille's Lawman by Beth Williamson Review

More than the law will be tested when a marshal meets a feisty widow.
Sean Reilly had the bad luck to be assigned the blue marble – the “cursed” marble shunned by the four other marshals in the Arizona Territory. He’s sent to take care of a land dispute for a widow named Lucille Quinn. He has no idea just how his life will change because of the dang blue marble.
Lucille Quinn needs help to settle the matter of some missing cattle. The marshal that arrives is unexpected as he is good-looking – he’s also the man who left her five years earlier. Beneath the anger lies an attraction that never died, it simply smoldered until flaring back to life the moment she saw him.
The meeting is by pure chance, the result is pure magic.

What I thought...

Beth Williamson has done it again. I loved this story. Lucille is one tough chick and knows how to hold her own in any situation and Sean is dark and sexy and a man who is hardened by life.

The sex is hot and the chemistry is smokin. I have always loved a story about a man and a women reunited after years apart. When the sparks are still there and even a waterfall can't put them out, you know it was meant to be. *grins* You are gonna have to read the story to find out about the waterfall. Which is what I hope you will do. This is a fantastic short story about a man and a women reunited and finally finding their happily ever after.

A definite must read!

The Hunters: Declan and Tori by Shiloh Walker

Book 1
Tori McAdams was a sensible woman. She didn't believe in hocus-pocus, she didn’t believe in ghosts, and she definitely didn’t believe in vampires…not until the night she was attacked by one. Alone, starving and afraid, she doesn’t know what’s happening but at least she had somebody to turn to…
Declan Reilly was normally the last person she’d go to for help, but now he was the first on her list. He can help; she knows he can. She never could have planned on what happens next, though…the sexy detective is so much more than he appears.
Warning: This book contains violence, sex, more violence, a maniacal murderer, sex, more violence, and a menage or two thrown in for good measure. There are also sighs, happy endings, a romance, a hero, a heroine, and a little bit of falling in love.
**Please note this work has been previously published. While it's been edited, no new material has been added.

Blue Moon by Mackenzie McKade

Things aren’t always what they seem…and that can be a really good thing.
Two years ago Samantha Dawson had everything she wanted—a close family, a promising career, and a man she loved. Until the fateful night before her oldest sister’s wedding, a night of celebration and too much alcohol that tore her world apart. Devastated, she fled Oregon for Phoenix.
Now she’s home for her little sister’s wedding, and just her luck, the best man is her ex-boyfriend. Worse, no one involved in that ugly night seems to want to let the past die an ugly death.
Kyle Ackland has no memory of the events that destroyed his life, but he’ll never forget the woman who set his body on fire. Sam’s emotional barriers are as solid as the Cascade Mountains, but he’s determined to chip them away one sensual kiss at a time.
Yet even if he succeeds, what’s left of their love could crumble under the weight of past sins…and present secrets.

Excerpt:

“Don’t touch me!” If he did…her heart would shatter.
Pulse throbbing, wide-eyed, Samantha glared at the achingly familiar man standing far too close for her comfort. An onlooker might take her reaction as anger, but it was pure, unadulterated fear that drove her. If Kyle Ackland laid one finger on her, her resolve would dissolve.
“Sam, please.”
Please? How could he sound so sorrowful? Look so hurt? Even his eyes seemed to glisten with unshed tears.
Sam raised her head and looked him straight in the eye. “No! I’m only back for Jennifer’s wedding and then I’m leaving.” She licked her suddenly dry lips.
A commotion in her mother’s kitchen, voices rising and doors opening and closing, briefly stole her attention. The caterer must have arrived. Soon the house would be filled with guests, but her immediate problem was shaking her past long enough to get through this day.
A pent-up breath squeezed from between Sam’s pinched lips.
Why oh why did her youngest sister have to fall in love with Kyle’s best friend, Brad Collingsworth? And why, after all that had happened, had Jennifer insisted Sam be her matron of honor?
For all intents and purposes, Sam was perfectly happy living in Phoenix—alone. Okay. Maybe that was a lie, but she had found a semblance of peace. She got up each morning, went to work, and came home without a thought of Kyle. The nights were a different story.
Inching sideways to put distance between them, she swallowed hard. “Let’s just get through this awkward situation as reasonably as we can. Okay?”
What a laugh.
The sense of déjà vu rose so quickly it almost choked her. Had it been two years ago? Another wedding, her eldest sister, Cathy’s wedding. The thought of her sibling’s betrayal still left a bad taste in Sam’s mouth, but it took two to tango. Kyle was as much to blame as Cathy. Sam hadn’t been the only one hurt that night.
Kyle eased back, threading his fingers through thick black hair that fell in waves on top. “We need to talk.”
Sam looked up into his crystal blue eyes and shook her head once again. “We’ve talked.” In all reality she had been too hurt to believe that what she had seen wasn’t real. She swallowed hard, refusing to relive that horrible day. “There’s nothing left to say.”
God. She couldn’t bear to be this close to him. Feel the heat of his body, smell his sandalwood cologne. He hadn’t changed, still the epitome of maleness. If anything his chest was broader, more muscular. Firm thighs wrapped seductively in blue denim were almost enough to send her into meltdown. Almost. But it wasn’t going to happen.
“Two years ago you wouldn’t listen to me.” The veins in his throat tensed, bulged. He moved closer, sending her pulse into high gear. “Sam, I don’t know how Cathy got into my bed that night. I was drunk. We were all drunk.”
Yeah. It had been quite a party—a celebration not to be forgotten.
Sam closed her eyes to vanquish the memory of walking into Kyle’s room the next morning and finding her sister, naked, sleeping peacefully in his arms.
The scene that followed hadn’t been a pretty one. When George, Cathy’s fiancé, stepped into the room, all hell broke loose.
Sam had sat numbly through all the possibilities of how Cathy could have mistakenly wandered into Kyle’s room. She had wanted to believe them. Her sister could be a royal bitch. They had never gotten along, but Kyle had never given Sam any reason to doubt his word. Yet when George had asked if they had fucked, Cathy and Kyle fell silent. Sam remembered pushing to her feet and walking toward Kyle.
“I don’t remember what happened,” he admitted. “But even drunk I would never betray you.”
The rest was a blur. Her hand rose on its own accord, palm cracking across his cheek. The last thing she recalled from that day was running from the room. Funny. But it felt as if she was still running and getting nowhere fast.
A squeaking door forced her eyelids open.
“Oh.” Her mother pulled to an abrupt stop. Wringing her hands, she looked from Sam to Kyle. “I…uhhh…well…” She forced a smile that didn’t reach her eyes. “Kyle, could you help Brad direct the vehicles outside? It’s becoming a parking lot. Everyone decided to arrive at once.”
“Of course, Mary.” Kyle paused to glance back at Sam. His lips parted as if he would say more, but didn’t. Instead, he headed for the door and disappeared outside.
With hastened steps, her mother closed the distance between them. Tender fingertips brushed back a strand of Sam’s elbow-length blonde hair behind an ear. “Honey, are you okay?”
Sam inhaled an audible breath. On an exhale, she blurted, “I can’t do this.” Every nerve inside her felt strung tight, ready to burst. She tried to swallow, but the knot in her throat wouldn’t move. “I didn’t think it would be this difficult.” A single tear broke through her defenses. She swatted at the wayward emotion. “I’m leaving.”
“For God’s sake, Samantha, get a hold of yourself.” Her mother’s raised voice skated over Sam’s skin like an ice pick. “This has gone on for too long. You haven’t spoken to Cathy in over two years. It kills me to have this rift between my children.”
“Well, Mom—” Heat singed Sam’s face as she came eye-to-eye with her mother. “It killed me to find my sister in bed with my fiancé.” The words came out on a rush of anger.
Her mother’s slender body flinched, but it didn’t stop her from continuing. “Honey, Cathy’s changed. Can’t you let it go?”
Why couldn’t anyone see her side? Was she truly supposed to just kiss and make up with Cathy? Forgive Kyle? Maybe in her mother’s time women let men walk all over them—Lord knows their father did when he was alive—but not Sam. She had more backbone.
Fists clenched, she glared at her mother and a surge of pity rose, softening her fury. Once, her mother had been young, beautiful, but time had carved its presence. The light had gone out of her signature blue eyes. The luster waned from her sable hair that used to be so like Jennifer’s beautiful mass. Living with a selfish, unfaithful man had taken its toll. Sadly, his lingering fight with cancer hadn’t been easy on any of them.
“No. I can’t let it go.” Sam spun around just as Jennifer opened the kitchen door and waltzed through it. When she saw Sam she released a squeal. All smiles, she ran into Sam’s arms, pushing an umph from Sam’s mouth.
“You’re here! When did you get here? Have you seen Brad? I’m so happy you’re home.” Moisture glistened in Jennifer’s sparkling eyes. “Thank you.” She kissed Sam’s cheek. Not once or twice, but three times in quick little pecks. “Thank you for coming home.”
Their mother flashed Sam an anxious expression that seemed to say Are you going to break your sister’s heart? Ruin the best day of her life?

Review:

Wow this book was amazing! It was a sweet, emotional, and not to mention HOT read. Ms McKade really has outdone herself with this one.

Sam Dawson is a women scorned. After a night of emotional trauma she has fled her hometown and left behind her family, her friends, and the man she loved. She has now returned for her younger sister's wedding and is forced to face it all again. Kyle is, well, for lack of a better word, crushed. He doesn't remember the night that ruined his entire life and can't figure out exactly what happened. All he knows is that he loved Sam with everything he had and now she wants nothing to do with him.

I truly felt terrible for both these characters. The obviously love each other deeply and want to be together. The sexual tension when they are around each other is palpable and the chemistry is obvious. You can tell they really truly belong together. If only they could get past that one fateful night. Throughout this whole book you can feel their need for one another and you can't help but root for them. The plot is catchy and emotional and the intimate moments are hot and they feel very personal. I laughed, I cried, I fanned myself, and I smiled and that is what made this book a fantastic read. A definite must read.

A Cowboys Muse by Beth Williamson

This fabulous tale of mythology and cowboys will be available on Tuesday September 27th.

Clio is not only the muse of history, she has virtually lived her life through books. When a lightning strike sends her through space and time, Clio finds herself in the Old West with no way of getting home and none of her powers. Relying on her book learning is not working out like she’d hoped.
Ace Nevada is an unwilling sheriff who has spent the last year trying to get out of town. When a crazy woman lands in the horse trough in front of a saloon, he finds himself strangely attracted to her. He can’t help himself from sampling her lips or her incredibly lush body.
Clio learns how to be human and Ace remembers what it is to be human. They are two halves of the same whole. Mates. When Clio’s powers return, will their love pass the test of time?

What I thought...

I will say that I was a little skeptical at first. I didn't know how a story would work out bringing mythology and magic into the old west. After reading the first chapter my mind changed drastically. Beth Williamson has mastered the task of bringing two very different worlds together and making it into a wonderful story.

Clio is a goddess and has spent very little time on earth, so when she is abruptly dropped there, to say she was a little baffled would be an understatement. Especially when the first thing she saw was a very tall, very big, and very handsome sheriff.

Ace Nevada has no idea what to think. He has just pulled a women dressed in a purple toga out of the horse trough and has no clue how she got there. But once he gets a good look at her he realizes that she is beautiful. He is surprisingly attracted to her. He decides to take her to the boarding house so she can get cleaned up.

The conversation between the characters is very witty and humorous. You can tell Clio has no idea how to fend for herself and the way that Ace silently helps her is very sweet. There was emotion, sexual tension, and intimacy.  I would have to say my favorite part about this book was the way Clio took charge and told Ace exactly how it was gonna go. Oh and did i mention she takes him down a peg or two? Yep...you will just have to read it to find out.

This books is very well rounded. It kept me interested with twists and turns and the characters and plot were great. I would definitely recommend this book.

Cynthia Eden ~ Bound by Darkness Review

Bound in Darkness is the second in a fantastic series by Cynthia Eden. The first being Bound in Blood

Hunter…
When it comes to killing vampires, werewolf Cade Thain is the best slayer in the Northwest. So when a witch hires him to take out a pureblood vamp, the assassin thinks it will be just business as usual. One less vicious vamp on the streets…one more undead parasite gone from the earth. Then he meets her.
Protector…
Allison Gray isn’t the prey that Cade expects. Beautiful, innocent, she stirs a dark desire within him. Allison hasn’t transformed fully into a vampire, not yet, and it’s Cade’s job to make sure that she never does. Allison thinks that he’s at her side to keep her safe, but Cade is supposed to pick the right moment—and kill her.
Lover…
Killing Allison is soon the last thing that Cade plans. As she begins the transformation that will turn her into a vampire, her bloodlust and their desire merge in an explosion of need that neither can control. But Allison’s enemies are closing in, and the coming battle will take Cade and Allison beyond life, beyond love…and into a deadly darkness that waits to claim them both.

What I thought...
A yummy shifter hero and a kick ass vampire heroine. What more could you ask for?
Well you really don't need much more in this book. It was fantastic. The characters both rocked and the attraction they shared for each other was explosive.
Cade is definitely a bad ass hero. He is strong and alpha to the core. When he walks into a room he takes charge and is respected to the fullest. I really felt a strong pull to him being that I love an alpha man, especially if said man is a werewolf. Allison is a bit confused and doesn't really know what is going on with herself. She has an idea but doesn't truly see the extent of it all. I really enjoyed her because she was strong and used her strength when it was necessary. She did make some stupid mistakes but it worked with the story cause it gave reason for Cade to rescue her and get even more confused about his feelings. I don't know about you but I love it when and alpha man starts to feel and is sincerely pissed off about those feelings.
The plot in this story was great. It read smooth and kept me involved the entire time. If I would have had more time I would have read this story straight through. There are twists and turns that keep you on your toes and a villain that lives up to his/her name.
I would definitely recommend this book to all the Cynthia Eden and paranormal fans out there.

Congrats Cynthia on another very successful release!!!!!

Infinate Betrayal Review

Gayle Donnelly and Robyn Mackenzie have teamed up to write this fabulous new series. The first book is called INFINITE BETRAYAL and is amazing.

The existence of the Coteri has remained hidden for centuries…until now

He would protect her with his life…
Mathias has been ordered to protect Mina Roarke at all costs while keeping her Father’s secrets concealed.  But from the moment he sees her, the hunger he’s desperately tried to bury, roars to life.  The beast within is awakened and wants only one thing…Mina.
But when his enemies target her life, Mina and Mathias become caught in a lethal game of revenge.   To save her, Mathias must not only expose the truth…but also what lies deep within him.

She was just looking for answers….
Mina had always been told she was special. In what way, she never fully understood until her life and everything she thought she knew and believed in was turned completely upside down.
After the unexpected death of her mother, Mina finds clues about her past that trigger more questions than answers. Her quest to find those answers thrusts Mina deep into the Black Forest of Germany and into the arms of a man who tests her control…in more ways than one.  She is wrenched from her own reality into a world filled with adrenaline-charged danger, blazing sexual heat, and the answers that have been hidden her entire life.
Mina alone holds the power to change her future but when she comes face to face with ultimate betrayal, can she still trust in the one man that has captured her heart?

Buy it at Amazon here

What I thought...

Exciting, romantic, and sexy read that pulls you in and doesn't let go.

Mathias is a general for the kings army but it is not just any army. It is a secret army of shape shifters that have been around for thousands of years. He is put in charge of guarding Mina while also keeping all secrets just that, secret. He figures this is going to be easy until he sets eyes on her. As soon as he sees her he knows that he will have her. But at what costs? He is forbidden to mate with humans, especially the kings daughter.

Mina has always been told she is special. So much, in fact, that she starts to hate the word itself. She decided to take a trip to Germany to vacation and maybe track down her long lost father. Little does she know that when she decided to follow a wolf into the woods, her life is going to change forever.
The chemistry between these two characters is explosive and burns up the pages. The intimacy is hot and the sex is hotter. The camaraderie between the hero and the other men in the story is a very nice addition and the relationship between Mina and her best friend Chloe is one that most women would envy. The dialogue is witty and cleaver and will have you chuckling. Mina is a very sassy chick that has no problem putting you in your place and Mathias is a very alpha male. He is protective and strong yet caring and gentle. I loved how the story continued to go up and down with the plot line. There wasn't just one big problem and then a solution. These two ladies keep you on your toes the whole time. I would truly recommend this book to anyone who wants a fast paced amazing read that you will not be able to put down. I am super excited for future books in this series. There are so many intriguing characters that I must read about.

Be sure to check out the website for more information on this series.

The Masters by Lisa Renee Jones Review

Today I have the talented Lisa Renee Jones with me. I will be discussing her Masters Series. This is a series of three books that are about a group of BDSM Masters at a place called The Society and the women who venture into the life to be with the men they love.

Book 1
A TASTE OF PLEASURE

Eight years ago, Sarah Michaels locked eyes with Ryan White at a sinful sex club. His dominant presence exuded erotic promises and aroused part of Sarah that she didn’t recognize. But Ryan was her family’s chief rival in the candy business, the very definition of forbidden fruit.
Since that night, Sarah has tried to deny that she wants what Ryan offers, that she actually wants to be dominated. Yet she can’t stop fantasizing about him. When Ryan invites her to his elite club where power and pleasure go hand-in-hand, the temptation to explore her suppressed desires is too strong to resist. Is she ready to give up control to Ryan—a man who might never give it back?

What I thought...

I thought this book was pretty good. The sex scenes were hot but not explosive so I would say it is a lighter erotic. The book starts off pretty hot with Sarah and Ryan running into each other at the Society. This spurs some fantasies in Sarah. The problem is, Sarah is always in control and is scared her to give Ryan the reins.  Ryan is definitely a Dom and acts and talks like one. He is nurturing and sexy and cherishes Sarah. Sarah is your typical in control women. She is strong and determined to make things work. I really respected her for her ability to shoulder the responsibility she did.

A TASTE OF PLEASURE is a short read so therefore it moves very quickly. I really would have liked to have it slowed down so I could have more but it was very good as a novella. The only thing that I disliked in this book is the ended seemed very abrupt. It came up very quickly and I was not expecting it. Really good book that I would recommend.

Book 2

BOUND AND DETERMINED

Three years ago, Darla Rogers’s ex, Jacob Remington, left on a top secret Special Forces mission and didn’t return—at least, not to her. They had broken up after he pushed her to the erotic edge, asking her to trust him completely…and she pushed him away.
Now Jacob is back, revealing his membership in a secret society that enjoys games of dominance and submission. This time, Darla is determined prove she belongs in his world. Even if that means embracing her darkest desires with Jacob and the society’s leader….

What I thought...

I truly enjoyed the relationship between Darla and Jacob in this book. Again this is a short read so everything kind of happens fast but it works in this one. You figure out right away that Darla and Jacob have a past and have already done the relationship thing but Darla was not comfortable in Jacob's world and that forces her to push him away. He leaves and that is when Darla decides she is gonna learn the way of The Society. She agrees to be taught by The Societies leader but Jacob is having none of that. He joins the party and shows Darla just how much she belongs to him. Darla is an attorney so she is not used to not having control but is determined to show the man she loves that she can be a part of something that is important to him. I really liked that about her. She was willing to confront something that she was scared of for Jacob. Jacob was your typical Dom. Alpha, powerful, demanding...amazing character and he was perfect for the book. This was a very good fast, erotic read that I would recommend.

Book #3
Exposed and Pleasured

Book store owner Kim Baker has a serious crush on Dr. Blake Morgan—an attraction that only gets stronger when he shows her an erotic book and invites her on a night of sensual exploration at his private club, the Society.
She’s drawn to his sense of power and dominant sexuality…and can’t help but fantasize about being controlled by him in every way. But as Blake teaches Kim to claim her pleasure and lose her inhibitions, he may be the one in danger of losing control….

What I thought...

I really enjoyed this book! Both the characters were very well written. I sincerely liked Blake. He was very caring and nurturing on the outside but when he arrived at the club you saw a whole new side of him that will take your breath away. He is alpha to the tee and very sexual. Kim is a bookworm and history buff so when Blake shows her a erotic book and invites her to join him at his club she doesn't know what to think. She is very interested in him so she decides to let go a bit and join him. Kim realizes that Blake is not the man she thought he was but is pleasantly surprised that he turns out to be exactly who she needs. I also enjoyed the plot in this book. It flowed very smooth and kept me interested the whole way through. My only disappointment was that I couldn't have more of these two characters. Definitely a must read.

Lisa Renee Jones does a fantastic job with this series and I sincerely hope that she will continue and write some of the other very compelling characters I was introduced to.

Lisa has a brand new release out this week that I would recommend you check out. #2 in her Vampire Wardens book is available.
