Taige Crenshaw VBT ~ Day 5


Taige is here today with a short interview. Welcome to Romance Book Craze Taige!

Tell us your latest news?

I had 2 release last month. Silken Inferno  and Dark Callings which are book 2 and 3 in my Phoenix Intelligence Agency series.
I’m also hard at work with books in my various series. I have some more releases later this year.

When and why did you begin writing?

I’ve been making up stories from time I was a child. I started writing from time I was a child. I used to write fairytales as a kid. :) I used to write then get the family to sit and listen to me.  And yes I remember my first story I wrote it was a story of a princess saving a silly prince. {Grin} Even then my heroine’s were butt kicking and saving along with hero. Since then I’ve keep writing because I have too. The stories fill my head and I have to tell them.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?

Hmmmm…from the first story I told when I was a child. I wanted to have people swept  up in my story and wanting to come along on a journey with me. My family was my first readers and then eventually my friends. Now I write and share to a wider set of readers. Each time I am able to share a story I am blessed. Reading is an adventure and I love being able to give someone that journey.

What inspired you to write your first book?

I wanted to make up my own fairytales.

Do you have a specific writing style?

Nope I don’t have a specific writing style. I just write what my characters tell me. They control the story and how it unfolds.

How did you come up with the title?

The title Dark Callings is multilayered. It comes from what the type of being a hero is - a Shadower. He walks in the shadows and they call to him. Also the other layer of the title of about the couple of Lennox - my hero- and Harmony - my heroine-who have a destiny that is intertwined. They have a calling to each other that is destined and combined in the shadows. There is a beauty to the shadows where dark plays with light mixing then fading until there is only... Dark Callings.  

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

Dark Callings has a combination of underlying messages. Lennox is a man who thinks because of the being he is, he does not dare hope for the woman who he wants.  Lennox is a Shadower - a race of beings who are feared and other beings don’t trust them. Harmony is a woman who is determined enough to get beyond the defenses of a stubborn man. She doesn’t care about what others think or that Lennox himself isn’t sure if he can trust himself. There is a darkness in him and Lennox doesn’t want it to affect her. But Harmony sees the good in him even if Lennox does not. He underestimates her and she gets beyond his defenses.

Dark Callings is about belief in someone other than yourself, going out on faith and letting go to let someone else in to help you carry your burdens. Most importantly, the main underlying message in Dark Callings is about the power of love.

VBT ~ The Dom with the Perfect Brats ~~ Black.Shaw.Silverwood

An interview with the fabulous Leia Shaw!

How did the three of you begin writing together?


Cari and I wrote 31 Flavors of Kink together first. We wanted to do a sequel and we knew that ménage was becoming popular and it seemed like an interesting challenge but a lot of fun to write. Sorcha Black was a mutual friend and had some experience writing ménage so we high-jacked her from her current project to work with us. Lol. We decided we’d each take a character (M/f/f) and write in that character’s point of view. It ended up working really well and now we’re on our third book together!


Where did the idea for this series come from?

After we decided to write a ménage book together, we toyed around with a few different ideas and genres. None of us normally write contemporary so we started with paranormal plots. We were arguing about dragon shifter Doms when things just started feeling too complicated. So we simplified and gave contemporary a shot. Even though alone we all write fantasy or PNR, together it’s worked best to write contemporary BDSM ménage. We added the brats because we think brats are fun! We’re also sending a message. Submission doesn’t have to be super serious all the time. And there’s no one right way to do D/s.

Can you tell us some inside information for this book without giving away any spoilers?

Hmm. Well Cross is a bit of a damaged soul with control issues. Gemma is a tattoo artist, trying to fight her way into a male dominated profession. Izzy is a punkish sweetheart from Australia, afraid to reveal her bisexual tendencies. The other main character is a wicked-looking strap Cross keeps in his desk drawer for wayward subs. Hint: Both girls get a taste of it in the book ;)


Will we see more of Jude, Q, and Sabrina in this book?

Of course! It was so much fun to write them into this story. Things have progressed in their relationship but they’re the same old characters from the first book. Q is even more confident as Sabrina’s Dom. Both are still bratty to Jude of course ;)  And their family is growing so you’ll see more of that too!


Are there going to be more books in the series?

I certainly hope so. I know our fans want more. You’ll meet some side characters in Perfect Brats who might be getting stories in the future. One of them is Malachi and I’m feeling especially compelled to write a couple girls for him ;)

When Gemma and Izzy express interest in his upcoming sale, Godfrey Cross invites them to his Goth clothes store after hours. The girls have been teasing him and only have a vague idea as to how far Cross will go…

 The next time they came out, giggling and flushed, they wore matching black PVC dresses with black studded leather collars. Gemma’s expression was downright naughty, and Izzy looked smug. Cross immediately imagined bringing them into the club like that, on a tandem leash, but freshly spanked and biddable. He stifled a hiss as his arousal evaded his control.

 “So are you two a matched set now?” He arched a brow.

 Gemma bit her lip then prowled over to him, dragging Izzy in her wake. “I think he likes these, Izzy. What is it, knuckle-dragger? The twin thing? The collar thing? Are we making you think bad thoughts?”

 “I warned you I’m no gentleman.” Cross adjusted himself through his jeans without any attempt at being subtle.

 They both looked amused. Not easily shocked, for vanilla girls.

 “So if we touched you, would you fall at our feet and worship us?” Gemma looked at Cross speculatively.

 “Maybe I should tie your hands together to avoid that?” he growled. Girls didn’t talk to him like this. They ducked their heads and did what they were told. He had to fight down mild annoyance. This girl wasn’t his... yet. If she was, she’d be clutching her sore ass by now, with fat tears rolling down her cheeks. His heart beat faster. This time he didn’t hesitate to get into her personal space as he loomed over her. Izzy, who she still clutched, got the same view. Now both of them looked up at him with wide eyes. Even vanilla girls understood this body language. Godfrey Cross was not a man to fuck with.

 After a short silence, Izzy lifted her hands, giving him a sassy grin that paled compared to Gemma’s prior challenge.  “I double-dare you.”

 He looked down. Offering her wrists. Brat. Gemma snickered, obviously thinking she was safe.

 Without pause, he pulled Gemma’s arms behind Izzy’s back. “Stay.” He grabbed Izzy’s wrists and put them behind her too, then zip-tied their same wrists together. They’d actually cooperated. He stepped back and admired his work. They were stuck with Gemma hugging Izzy, and Izzy unable to get away. Nice. He generally preferred leather cuffs or rope for real bondage, but the zip ties would do.

 “Hey!” Both girls protested briefly, testing their bonds. The sound of PVC sliding along PVC was sexy. And the collars. Nothing was hotter than a woman wearing a collar – except maybe for a woman wearing his collar.

 “Oh no! What’s to become of us, dear Izzy? Now we’re totally at his mercy.” So much sarcasm in such a little girl. They looked at him expectantly. Despite the brave words, Gemma seemed unsettled. “I bet he’s like every other straight guy I know and he’s hoping we’ll kiss.”
Izzy laughed breathlessly. Though Gemma watched him, she was staring in fascination at Gemma’s mouth.

 “A couple of straight, good girls like you? I wouldn’t put money on it,” he mocked.

 Gemma’s brows shot up. “Good girl? You wish.” Her face swung to Izzy, who looked at her with trepidation and even flinched the tiniest amount.

 As Gemma leaned toward her, pulling her closer, Izzy tried to squirm away. “Don’t,” she squeaked. Gemma ignored her and pressed her lips to the girl’s in a chaste way, then withdrew.

 Cross laughed. “You’re a virgin, Gemma? That’s all that kiss said to me.”
She glared at him, not noticing the way Izzy’s tits heaved or her helpless look of arousal.

 Gemma snorted and turned back to her new friend. Challenge accepted. She pulled Izzy closer, with the girl whimpering but not trying hard to stop her. Slowly Gemma leaned in until their lips almost touched. Her tongue tip traced the seam of Izzy’s lips, teasing, testing, like she wanted to see what Izzy would do.

 Fucking hot. He resisted grabbing her hair and instructing. If the building had fallen down, he might not have noticed. This was better than his daydreams.

 Gemma bit the girl’s bottom lip – he could see the tug of skin as she pulled. When Izzy gasped she slipped her tongue into her mouth and started to kiss her in earnest. Izzy submitted, relaxing into her arms then kissing her back. When, at last, Gemma pulled away, Izzy mewled, trying to follow her and not let it end.

 Now that, that, was fucking hot.

 They were both pink and blotchy, breathing hard, looking at him.
Gemma exhaled shakily. “Happy now?”

 He couldn’t stay out of this anymore – all of his Dom instincts were pacing the cage, trying to escape. Vanilla or not? Time to find out.

Drawing himself up, he towered over them and growled. “Again.”

 “What?” Gemma whispered, brow furrowed.

 He glowered down at her, almost touching them he was standing so close. He ran a finger under the collar she’d put on as a joke, slowly, letting her feel the pressure. “I didn’t tell you to stop, girl. Do it again.”
Izzy backpedaled, almost pulling Gemma off her feet. He stopped Izzy with a hand on the nape of her neck, and steadied Gemma with a hand under her elbow.

 “Stop trying to get away, Izzy. I know you like this.” He waited a second to let the idea sink in. “Just let it happen. You can blame me later, if you need to.” He held her with thumb and forefinger wrapped around her neck, over the collar. He stroked gently with his thumb. Though trembling, she didn’t argue.

 When he looked back to Gemma, she stared him in the eye. She didn’t want to like this, but somewhere in there, deep down, she did.

 “Do it. Now.”

 He could feel the heat coming off of her. She liked this, even if she wouldn’t say so. And neither of them had told him to fuck off or untie them.

 After one, long, exasperated sigh, Gemma took up the kiss where she’d left off.

 He placed a gentle hand on the back of her neck too. She tried to jerk away but groaned into Izzy’s mouth. 

 Small noises of pleasure gave way to frustrated moans from Izzy. Somehow his hands had entangled in their hair, and soon he couldn’t help himself and started controlling their movements. The writhing of their bodies, their sounds and the way they’d wrapped themselves around each other – fuck. His cock pressed hard against his jeans, not used to being denied for so long. He was surprised his dick hadn’t detached and gone stomping through the store like Godzilla through Tokyo.

“You need us,” Fen said, his voice more confident. “Let us see.”
Her eyes flicked to Fen's. “I want a shower.”
“Please,” Fen said gently.
“We should have stayed,” Val said. “It's my fault, I made Fen leave, he wanted to stay...”
Ki looked back to Val and shook her head. “It wasn't anybody's fault,” she said after a moment.
“Please,” Val said, reaching up, but letting his hand fall away before he could touch her. “I need to see.”
Ki licked her lips, a gesture that Val couldn't fail to follow with his eyes. He'd felt those lips under his, tasted them, and she had been sweet. His stomach jerked with remembered pleasure, how her body had moved with his and Fen's, how her voice had sounded. He wanted that again. She seemed to know what he was thinking, because she blushed once more, eyes shifting away quickly.
“This is not a good idea,” Ki said as she bit down on her bottom lip.
“We're not going to jump you,” Fen said with a sigh.
Ki muttered something that Val couldn't understand and then let out a sigh of her own. “Fine,” she said in a huff. “But that's it for the night. I get a shower and I get some sleep before anything else. Agreed?”
Val glanced at Fen. “Agreed,” Fen said for both of them.
Ki shooed them back and Val was reluctant to lose that point of contact with her, but he obeyed. He needed to see this wound, know how bad it actually was before he lost it. If it was small then there was still time and he desperately wanted to know that there would be time. This girl did something to him that was both terrifying and wonderful. He had no idea what to do with those feelings and he felt that loss of control keenly.
It wasn't like his control was good at the best of times, and he'd come so close to doing something they all would have regretted last time. It was why he'd forced Fen to leave. His wolf had been too close to the surface that night and Ki had been so fragile. He could have killed her with what he wanted to do, what he’d almost done. Now she was paying for his lack of control. If they had stayed, she wouldn't have been shot, he knew that. He felt Fen's nudge and glanced over at his bond to see the frown on his face. Fen didn't agree.
Fen leaned over, lips pressed to Val's ear. “Not your fault,” he said, voice soft, breath heating Val's cold skin.
Val gave a shiver and leaned into Fen, allowing his eyes to close for a moment. When he opened them it was to find tawny eyes watching them widely. Ki's mouth was slightly parted as well, showing a hint of her pink tongue.
“Oh wow that's, like, totally hot,” said Hazel appearing on the back of the couch. “You godchildren have all the luck.”

Author Bio:

TJ Rowser grew up on a working farm that left her with plenty of time to explore her imagination while performing lots of physical labor. The older she got, the more that imagination expanded, and the less she liked the hard physical labor aspect. It took too much time away from the stories in head. Working through a string of office jobs, she found her niche in a helpdesk and settled down to raise a family while happily sitting around exploring the worlds that kept springing to life in her mind. When that wasn't quite enough, she started writing them down and sharing them out, which leads us here, to an author's page, and a book filled with the characters that knock around in her head on a daily basis. They (the characters) are quite pleased with the result and so is she, since happy characters make for a much quieter mind.
