Leagh's Review: Animal Magnetism by Jill Shalvis

Book One in Animal Magnetism

Co-owner of the town’s only kennel, Lilah Young has lived in Sunshine, Idaho, all her life. Pilot-for-hire Brady Miller is just passing through. But he soon has Lilah abandoning her instincts and giving in to a primal desire.

It’s Brady’s nature to resist being tied down, but there’s something about Lilah and her menagerie that keeps him coming back for more.

If you like books that have you laughing one minute and going "awwwwww" the next, this is the book for you. The commentary had me laughing out loud. Lilah and Brody are an amazing couple with a real connection. The story involving the animals is both hilarious and adorable. Lilah is a strong heroine who is determined to follow through on her word to keep things casual and doesn't turn into a whiny baby. She loved junk food and swears way too much. She is a very compassionate person who basically loves all living things. Brody is the complete opposite...he doesn't take up roots anywhere, doesn't form attachments to anyone, and is serious to the bone. The two of them together are the perfect balance and makes for a very cute and charming story. Definitely a recommended read!!!!

Leagh's Review: Surrender to Me by Shayla Black

Book four in the Wicked Lovers series

A secret fantasy.
Hunter had everything until a bullet put his career as a Navy SEAL on hold. Restless and in need of distraction, he accepts an intriguing proposition. Restless and uncertain about his future, he accepts an intriguing proposition: share an acquaintance's girlfriend and fulfill her fantasy of a ménage. It should have been just a night of sexual adventure between three consenting adults. But Kata is like no other girl Hunter has ever met. By turns audacious and sexy, then vulnerable and aloof, she's a heartbreaker he's determined to master. But he needs more than one night. And he wants to do it alone.
An uncontrollable obsession.
Kata never expected to leave her comfortable relationship and explore something so dangerously forbidden with a stranger. Hard as she tries to resist, the guilty pleasure overwhelms her, and she surrenders herself, inch by inch, to the hardcore man who wants her for himself. Consumed by blazing desire, they're soon threatened by the shadows of the past. And now to keep Kata safe, Hunter makes her a bold proposition of his own. Saying yes will destroy her heart. But saying no could cost Kata her life.

Hunter is a Navy seal who is on leave because of an injured shoulder. Kata is a parole officer who is in Vegas for her birthday. Little does she know her friend Ben has a surprise for her. He has invited Hunter to join them for a night to fulfill Kata's fantasies. Well...lets just say the chemistry between Hunter and Kata is explosive and Hunter realizes right away that she is the one for him. Except there is one slight problem. Hunter is a hardcore Don and Kata doesn't submit, ever. Her family background prevents her from willingly giving up control even though her body is screaming for her to do so. After their night in Vegas Kata leaves Hunter to head home only to be targeted by an assassin. With Kata's life at risk and Hunter's leave coming to an end they only have a few short days to be together. With the help of characters from the past 3 books Hunter must find the killer and convince Kata that he is who she needs to be happy.

This book was amazing. Ms Black did it again. Hunter was hardcore and very intense while Kata was stubborn and very independent. The story line was compelling and it definitely took a turn at the end that will surprise you. The sex was extremely hot and totally BDSM. You could feel the emotion involved. Ms Black had me sweating one minute and wiping tears the next. Absolutely amazing story that left me wanting more. It was definitely great to see past characters again and also get introduced to new people in the Wicked Lovers world. I am excited for Tyler's story and also very excited for Logan's story. Definitely a recommended read!!!!

Review: The Perfect Play by Jaci Burton

Book one in the Play by Play Series

Football pro Mick Riley is an all-star, both on the field and in the bedroom. But a sexy, determinedly single mom just might be the one to throw him off his game...

For years Mick has been taking full advantage of the life available to a pro athlete: fame, fortune, and a different girl in every city. But when he meets and beds confident, beautiful event planner Tara Lincoln, he wants much more than the typical one-night stand. Too bad Tara's not interested in getting to know football's most notorious playboy any better.

As the single mother of a teenage son, the last thing Tara needs is the jet-set lifestyle of Mick Riley; even though their steamy and passionate one-night stand was unforgettable. Tara's life is complicated enough without being thrust into the spotlight as Mick's latest girl du jour. Tara played the game of love once and lost big, and she doesn't intend to put herself out there again, especially with a heartbreaker like Mick.

But when Mick sets his mind to win, nothing will stop him. And he has the perfect play in mind.

Mick is an NFL quarterback and Tara is a single mother of a teenager and an event planner. They meet at one of her events and the sparks fly instantly. You can almost feel the attraction coming off the pages. Mick definitely feels the chemistry and wants to get to know Tara better. Tara on the other hand feels the chemistry but has been burned by a man before and is not about to let it happen again. She is all about putting her son and career first and is willing to push Mick out of her life, but still enjoying a summer fling, in order to keep order. Soon the attraction takes over and the feelings get stronger allowing secrets from their pasts to come out. When things get to hot for them to handle, it takes a little outside influences for them to see the truth and accept it.

This book was absolutely amazing. I read it in one day because I could not put it down. The chemistry was smoking in and out of the bedroom. Both characters were strong, sometimes a little stubborn and you wanted to smack them, but all their feelings and desires made a lot of sense. Mick was just simply wow...he accepted the challenge of her having a 15 yr old son without a blink of an eye and took that acceptance beyond where it needed to be. He stepped in and acted like a father figure right from the beginning. This book has a very emotional pull to it along with burning up the pages. Very good balance of humor, emotion, hotness, and story. Ms Burton did a fantastic job with this one and I can't wait until the next in the series hits the shelves.

Marissa's Review: Nocturnal Whispers by Caridad Pineiro

Nocturnal Whispers by Caridad Pineiro

For over a century, Lord Alec Wright has been condemned to wander the Earth searching for a mummy he stole from an Egyptian tomb. Cursed to see all his loved ones die, he also must endure the spirit that tortures him with unrelenting arousal every night until he atones for his crime.
After years of searching, Alec has finally found what he seeks—but museum curator Kate Morton stands his way. The mummy's spirit is affecting her as well, driving her wild with desire. It is the perfect opportunity for Alec to seduce Kate and obtain the artifact. But in his quest to end his torment, will Alec wind up losing his heart?

First line of story:

“She came to him as she always did, her exotic kohl-lined eyes dark as midnight, her full lips stained blood red as she taunted him. “You know what I want.””
Doomed to wander the Earth and tortured each night by a spirit with unrelenting arousal, Lord Alec Wright knows he has to make amends for the wrong he did. He robbed a tomb and separated a mummy from her child; to lift the curse and live in peace he must reunite them. Now he has a chance to reunite mother and child but Kate Morton, a sexy and ambitious museum curator stands in his way. Their attraction is instant and the curse starts to affect her as well, Alec struggles to do the right thing and not lose his heart to Kate in this process.
Nocturnal Whispers is a short novella of 58 pages and is fast-paced from the start. And as with all short novels Nocturnal Whispers moved a bit too fast at times for me but it did not bother me as much as it usually does because I was fascinated by the Egyptian vibe of this story. Alex and Kate are charming characters, and though Alex has been around the block for a long time and knows what to do when it comes to ancient artifacts that does not mean that Kate is a pushover, she stands her ground with Alex. The attraction between them is obvious and not just because of the curse, together they heat up the pages, their passion is sizzling hot.
Caridad Pineiro’s writing is smooth and addictive; she does a great job mixing various (paranormal) elements like myth, history, romance, adventure and danger. Together they create a lovely, hot story and it kept me flipping the (digital) pages faster and faster to learn if Alex is forgiven for his crimes and gets his happily ever after.
Nocturnal Whispers is a fun, quick, erotic romance that was such a joy to read.  It was hot and steamy and will entertain anyone who loves paranormal erotic romance.
