Interview with J.D. Tyler and Review

Please welcome the wonderfully talented J.D. Tyler

Hello J.D. Thank you so much for being here today.

Thanks so much for having me here, Leagh!

Why don't we start off by you telling us a little bit about yourself.

I’ve been writing for 11 years and published for the last 5. I’m very lucky to be able to write full time, because that gives me flexible time to spend with my two awesome teenagers.

If you weren't writing what would you be doing?

I’d probably be working in a library or a book store because there’s nothing more I love than to be surrounded by books! Well, surrounded by hot men is good too… J

What are some of your favorites ~ music, movie, drinks, foods, etc

I love Italian and Mexican food, and I enjoy meeting friends for chips, salsa, and margaritas. My favorite music is rock, and I often listen to Metallica, Alice in Chains, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Three Days Grace, Sixx A.M., and Staind, just to name a few, as I write.

Tell us one unusual thing about yourself.

I’m not sure what’s unusual except my imagination and the way I just “check out” of reality. But to other writers that’s the norm, not unusual, so maybe that doesn’t count!

Do you need anything special while you are writing and when do you write?

I like to have something cold to drink on hand, and as I mentioned, I listen to rock. My best writing time is from about 8 am to around 3 pm. After that I’m pretty much done mentally.

Ok so now onto the book...

PRIMAL LAW is the first book in this brand new series. Mind telling us a little about it?

Absolutely! The Alpha Pack is a team of former Navy SEALs who are shifters with Psy abilities. On a moment’s notice, they can be sent anywhere in the world to eliminate dangerous human and non-human predators.
In book 1, PRIMAL LAW, Jaxon Law is a man struggling to overcome suffocating guilt and a terrible injury he received when his team was betrayed and ambushed. He’ll never forgive himself for falling for and trusting a lying, manipulative witch, or for the tragedy that resulted, and those aren’t mistakes he intends to repeat. But that’s before he rescues pretty Kira Locke from being killed by some very determined men who want back some incriminating samples she lifted from her employer—evidence that will lead the Pack to a sinister project that must be stopped at all costs. Jax is about to learn that he can’t guard his heart and protect his mate at the same time. Because what his wolf wants, he takes, with pleasure…

Where did the character and plot ideas come from for this series?

When my publisher asked me to create a shifter series, I wrung my hands with glee! I love to read paranormal, and to be presented with such a wonderful opportunity was a dream come true. Right away, I knew I wanted to write about a close-knit team of men, and I wanted my series to be different from any shifter series out there. I also wanted the books to be hero-driven, fast-paced and suspenseful. I love Navy SEALs, so I thought why not make them shifters with other powers as well? I then had the idea to make them former military, the team made of survivors of a werewolf attack. Now they are the perfect soldiers, but not without their flaws and heartaches.

I’m having so much fun writing the Pack’s stories, it’s unreal!

How many books are planned for this series?

So far, I have the first 3 in the series contracted, and ideas for 2 more. But if all goes well, the series could go on for a number of books…

How long do we have to wait for the next installment?

Kalen Black’s novella, BLACK MAGIC, (a prelude to his book) will be out from Penguin eSpecials in March 2012. Then Aric Savage’s story, SAVAGE AWAKENING (Alpha Pack #2) will be released on April 3, 2012! I’m so excited I can hardly wait. Here’s a blurb of Aric’s story to tease the readers:

A group of former Navy SEALS, the Alpha Pack is a top-secret team of wolf shifters with Psy powers combating the greatest dangers in the world. But sometime those dangers are more intimate than they bargained for…

After a mission goes wrong, Aric Savage is taken prisoner. Half-dead and despairing, he makes a stunning discovery: his Pack mate Micah Chase, who was reported dead, is a fellow captive. When the Alpha team goes into full-rescue mode, accompanying them is an absolute stunner with sable hair—and a spine of solid steel.

LAPD officer and Psy Dreamwalker Rowan Chase has one priority: her brother Micah’s recovery. Still, she can’t help but be drawn to Aric, the ruggedly handsome wolf shifter who pleasures her as no man ever has—however fleeting their affair is destined to be. But when Aric’s life is endangered, Rowan must ask herself what she’s willing to sacrifice in the name of love, for the man fated to be her Bondmate.

Thank you so much for doing the interview!

Thanks again for inviting me, Leagh! I hope you and the readers enjoy the Alpha Pack. J

Primal Law Book #1 in the Alpha Pack Series

Blurb:

Founded by a group of former Navy SEALS, the Alpha Pack is a top-secret team of wolf shifters with Psy powers tasked with eliminating the most dangerous predators in the world. But the gift of their abilities comes at a price…

After a massacre decimates half his team and leaves him crippled, Jaxon Law must relearn how to fight—and battle the anger and guilt threatening to overwhelm him. But when he rescues a beautiful woman who reawakens his primal instincts, Jax is unprepared for the dangers that lie ahead.

On the run from her employer, brilliant lab assistant Kira Locke has evidence that leads the Alpha Pack on a hunt for someone targeting human civilians with Psy abilities. And as Jax and Kira circle both the killer and each other, Jax will have to decide if the deep connection he feels with Kira is worth breaking the ultimate shifter rule—because bonding with Kira means putting his abilities at risk, and they might be the only tools he has to keep his mate alive…

Now on to what I thought of this book...

Can I give a book more then a 5 rating? No...hmmm...well that kind of stinks cause I want to give this one more! This book falls in my top 5 favorite shifter books ever and I read a lot of shifter books!

Fast, fun, emotional, and hot, throw in some sexy as hell shifters and a kick ass heroine and oh my...you have yourself a good time *wink*

I absolutely loved every aspect of this book. It has very intense in depth characters that will suck you in from the beginning. Jaxon is amazing. He is a tortured hero who has done everything in his power to protect the ones he loves. When a mission goes bad, he takes it very personally and he needs the love of the right women to heal his emotional hurt along with the physical. Kira...well, Kira just simply rocks. She is strong, determined, smart, and able to stand her ground in a house full of alpha power. She definitely knows how to put Jaxon on his knees. She didn't freak out when she found out about everything, nor did she turn into a whiny cry baby who needed to be coddled. NO..she stepped in and made her place in Jaxon's world and I respected her all the more for that.

I don't know about you but I feel that there has to be just the right balance of dialogue and thought to make a book flow well. Too much of either and you are either confused or bored. Not the case here, there is a lot of dialogue and banter between all the characters and just enough thought and back story for you to completely understand what is going on.

Ms. Tyler has created a world unlike any other I have read about. This book has all the things that I need in a romance novel for it to be complete. It has a strong H/H, a lot of amazing secondary characters, witty dialogue that will have you smiling, a great plot that flows well and is well thought out, and an ending that makes you crave more. Oh and did I mention this book is HOT! Oh my!  The intimacy is just the right balance of heat and emotion, and will have you fanning yourself by the end.

Ok , I am gonna quit now. I could go on and on about how amazing this books is but I won't. I am gonna trust that you will follow the link below to buy the book and see for yourself. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
