That is, until Maxine Henderson-Barker-reformed trophy wife and owner of Trophy Jobs Inc. employment agency-arrives to give Frankie a much needed kick in the pants.
Soon, Frankie lands a job as a prep chef at a Greek diner in New Jersey, home to the world's best meatloaf and an owner who resembles an exquisitely chiseled Greek statue. Falling into bed with Nikos isn't the best idea, but after years of living in a man's shadow, this ex- trophy wife is ready to get busy cooking...
What I thought...
Ms Cassidy has done it again. She has given us a book that will make us laugh out loud one moment and say "awwwww" the next all while cheering on the characters.
Francis "Frankie" Bennett is an ex-trophy wife. Her husband was a famous chef and millionaire. When she caught him cheating she confronted him on national television and left him. She has nothing but her car and her dog Kiki and now is living with her aunt in a retirement village and has been sleeping for 6 months. In walks Maxine (from book 1) who drags her out of bed and forces her to go out find a job and start taking control of her life and future.
Frankie reluctantly agrees to an interview as an assistant to Nikos Antonaka, who runs his family's Greek diner. Nikos is a man who has been burned before so when he starts to feel attracted to Frankie he is cautious about letting it go too far. Frankie does not want to get involved with another man but is having trouble resisting her attraction to Nikos. Just when they think things are going great, in comes Mitch, the famous ex-husband to throw a bone in their plans.
I really enjoyed this book. At first Frankie comes across as a whiny, poor me kind of character but she soon finds herself and out comes a confident rather witty person that you grow to love. Nikos is a gorgeous Greek god but he has his issues that he is slowly overcoming. He is strong, talented, and very family orientated. The secondary characters Simon and Jasmine are amazing. Jasmine is a also an ex-trophy wife and Simon is an ex-pro football player. Their story is closely entwined with the main characters but wonderful all it it's own. My favorite part of this book was Nikos' family at the diner. His brother Cosmos, his mother Voula (absolutely hilarious), and his father Barnabas. This big loud family adds a very welcome and funny addition to an already great book.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a hilarious yet romantic story of two women and their men who are strong enough to overcome the trials of life and come out stronger and happier in the end.
I happily give this book 4 butterflies!
